It is time to break out the caps and gowns! Come celebrate the graduation of the class of 2016 on Friday, May 5th at Gospel Light Baptist Church. Pastor Ken Carney will deliver the Commencement Address on this special day.
Pastor Ken Carney
Rev. Ken Carney has served the Church of the Nazarene in full-time ministry for over 44 years. He is currently the senior pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and has been there for over 18 years.
He was appointed missionary for the Church of the Nazarene in 1986. He received his language training in Antigua, Guatemala and speaks Spanish fluently. He served in Puerto Rico for two and one half years and the Dominican Republic for four years. He was director of missions in the Dominican Republic overseeing 280 churches on five districts. In 1994 he was assigned as regional missionary for the Church of the Nazarene serving as the Director of Work and Witness & Church Growth for the Caribbean Region from 1994-1997, working in over 20 countries throughout the Caribbean, South America & Central America. He also served in Harlem, NY helping to plant churches there.
Before his appointment as missionary he was an associate pastor on the Tennessee District for four years and he was a pastor on the Central Ohio District for 10 years serving churches in Columbus, Ohio and Ironton, Ohio. He attended Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee where he studied business administration. He also attended Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, Colorado where he was Student Body President. He has a degree in Biblical Studies from Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs, Colorado and also a bachelor of Bible Theology Degree from International Bible Institute & Seminary in Orlando, Florida.
Ken & his wife Ruth have four children. They are also Therapeutic Foster parents. He and Ruth have been actively involved in many community endeavors throughout their years in Hot Springs. Ruth, his wife, is currently the Mayor of the city of Hot Springs, Arkansas.
He promotes World Mission involvement as he speaks at Faith Promise Conventions, District Conventions, and Work & Witness Workshops in many churches and districts throughout the United States. He often travels in world mission areas leading work and witness teams building churches, schools, parsonages, and training national pastors.
